Clonality is often implicated in models of the evolution of dioecy, but few studies have explicitly compared clonal structure between plant sexual systems, or between the sexes in dioecious populations. Here, we exploit the occurrence of monoecy and dioecy in clonal Sagittaria latifola (Alismataceae) to evaluate two main hypotheses: (i) clone sizes are smaller in monoecious than dioecious populations, because of constraints imposed on clone size by costs associated with geitonogamy; (ii) in dioecious populations, male clones are larger and flower more often than female clones because of sex‐differential reproductive costs. Differences in clone size and flowering could result in discordance between ramet‐ and genet‐based sex ratios. We used spatially explicit sampling to address these hypotheses in 10 monoecious and 11 dioecious populations of S. latifolia at the northern range limit in Eastern North America. In contrast to our predictions, monoecious clones were significantly larger than dioecious clones, probably due to their higher rates of vegetative growth and corm production, and in dioecious populations, there was no difference in clone size between females and males; ramet‐ and genet‐based sex ratios were therefore highly correlated. Genotypic diversity declined with latitude for both sexual systems, but monoecious populations exhibited lower genotypic richness. Differences in life history between the sexual systems of S. latifolia appear to be the most important determinants of clonal structure and diversity.  相似文献

The development of aerenchyma in the petiole of Sagittaria trifolia L. was studied by means of light-microscopy, scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope and immunofluorescence, focusing on the formation of intercellular spaces in diaphragms and its relationship with the organization of cortical microtubule arrays. A complex and organized honeycomb-like schizogenous aerenchyma formed by cylinders and vascular diaphragms was observed in the petiole of S. trifolia at different developmental stages. Cell division was the primary factor contributing to the increased volume of air spaces at early stages, while cell enlargement became the primary factor at later stages. The cortical microtubules localize at the sites where intercellular spaces and the secondary cell walls will be formed or deposited during the formation of intercellular spaces by the separation of diaphragm cells. Cortical microtubules were observed at the boundary of diaphragm cells and the fringes of intercellular spaces at later developmental stages where cell expansion occurs rapidly. These observations support the hypothesis that reorganization of cortical microtubule arrays might be related to the formation of air spaces in diaphragms and are involved in the deposition of secondary cell walls.  相似文献

The flowering of Sagittaria pygmaea Miq. was promoted by 2,6-diisopropylphenoxyacetic acid, as well as by gibberellic acid (GA3). Uniconazole canceled the promotive effect of the phenoxy-acetic acid, while prohexadione shortened the period required for flowering. Endogenous GAs seem to play an important role in the flowering of S. pygmaea, and 2,6-diisopropylphenoxyacetic acid might affect GA biosynthesis or metabolism.  相似文献

Primary producers and nutrient loading in Silver Springs,FL, USA   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The characteristics and dynamics of primary producer communities of Silver Springs was examined to compare with that observed by Odum [Odum, H.T., 1957. Trophic structure and productivity of Silver Springs, Florida. Ecol. Monogr. 27, 55–112.] as a means of evaluating the impacts of changes that have occurred over time. The Silver Springs ecosystem is considered an ecosystem at risk, where nitrate levels have more than doubled over the past 50 years. The spatial and temporal abundance and distribution of above-sediment primary producers in Silver Springs, FL, USA, was estimated on a system-wide basis using a GIS platform. The results of study suggest that while the Sagittaria component of Silver Springs has remained relatively stable, epiphyte and benthic algal mat community biomass has expanded, particularly benthic forms, like Lyngbya. However, we argue for caution in weighing the significance of long-term comparisons of system-wide biomass in light of considerable spatial heterogeneity in aquatic primary producer communities.  相似文献

以巨桉幼树为对象,研究了不同施肥水平(每株施用含N、P2O5和K2O各15%的复合肥0、90、180和270 g)下巨桉叶片的气孔导度(Gs)、胞间CO2浓度(Ci)、净光合速率(Pn)、蒸腾速率(Tr)、水分利用效率(WUE)和叶面饱和水汽压亏缺(Vpdl)日变化,及其叶绿素含量变化,探讨巨桉光合特性与施肥和环境因素之间的关系.结果表明:各处理巨桉叶片Pn的日变化呈“单峰”形曲线,峰值出现在14:00,未出现光合“午休”现象;Gs、Tr和Vpdl的日变化与Pn相同,而Ci的最低值出现在14:00;WUE的日变化呈“双峰”形曲线,峰值分别出现在10:00和14:00.与对照处理相比,施肥处理叶片Gs、Pn、Tr、WUE及叶绿素a、叶绿素b和总叶绿素含量平均值分别增加4.6%~15.9%、7.8%~21.8%、4.8%~11.6%、3.2%~8.8%、15.5%~62.0%、14.5%~44.5%和15.3%~57.1%,且随施肥量的增加而增加;而叶片Ci和Vpdl平均值分别降低1.7%~4.6%和6.4%~15.2%,且随施肥量的增加而降低.气温、相对湿度(RH)和光合有效辐射(PAR)与Gs、Pn和Tr,Gs与Pn和Tr均显著相关.施肥可以促进巨桉生长、提高水分利用效率和增加生物固碳能力;气温、RH、PAR和Gs是影响巨桉光合作用和蒸腾作用日变化的主要因素.  相似文献

The family Alismataceae ( sensu Cronquist) comprises 11 genera and 75 species of aquatic and semiaquatic herbs. In Brazil, only the two most speciose genera, Echinodorus Rich. ex Engelm. and Sagittaria L., are present. The chromosome number 2 n  = 22 is common to all species. We present karyotypes for eight species, together with their asymmetry index (TF%) and total chromatin length (TCL). All karyotypes have high karyotypic asymmetry and TCL, due to their large and mostly acrocentric chromosomes. 植物的有性繁殖是生活史和进化的核心, 母本及环境对繁殖的影响固然重要, 父本的贡献亦不容忽视。父本来源与多样性对坐果结籽和后代质量的影响明显, 但由于不同物种或种群的繁殖特点和进化历程, 往往也会呈现其独特性。该研究旨在探究挺水植物野慈姑(Sagittaria trifolia)是否存在自交或远交衰退, 以及父本数量对其繁殖和后代表现的影响。通过人工控制授粉, 设置自交、近距离异交(<50 km)、远距离异交(>200 km) 3种交配距离以及单、双两类父本数量, 共计5种授粉处理, 观测野慈姑坐果概率、单果种子数量、种子面积、萌发率(2018和2019年)、幼苗芽长(2018和2019年)共7项指标。结果显示: 不同距离的交配对野慈姑的坐果概率、单果种子数量、种子面积、萌发率、幼苗芽长没有显著影响, 野慈姑未出现明显的自交衰退或远交衰退现象。父本数量的增加对野慈姑的结实数量(坐果概率、单果种子数量、种子面积)无影响, 但结实质量方面, 双父本处理的种子萌发率略高于单父本处理。综上所述, 交配距离与父本数量对野慈姑的繁殖表现影响较小, 这可能与其频繁的自交历史、远距离的基因扩散以及高度相似的水生环境有关; 同时, 该研究基于20余个自然种群的基因型, 研究结果也表明了野慈姑物种水平有性繁殖的优异和稳定性。  相似文献

主要研究了水环境中Cd2+污染对慈姑(Sagittaria sagittifolia L.)根的毒害影响。结果表明:在Cd2+胁迫下,慈姑根出现不同程度的褐变、发黑,生长受到限制;叶和根尖细胞超微结构受损,叶绿体膨大、类囊体排列紊乱、线粒体嵴减少、空泡化、染色质凝集等;根尖细胞在扫描电镜下呈细胞壁增厚、细胞形状扭曲和排列不规则现象。能谱分析结果表明随外界Cd2+浓度增大,单个慈姑根尖中的Cd2+含量升高,其他营养元素的吸收受到不同程度的影响。Cd2+对慈姑的毒害有明显的剂量效应和时间效应。  相似文献
